Starting this year, all the cafeterias at BASIS International & Bilingual Schools · China have undergone a comprehensive upgrade in rice procurement. Organic and high-quality japonica rice from the southern edge of the Xinjiang Desert—the Yangzhizi rice—will become the standard product for students' main meals.

清朝诗人、美食家袁枚曾说，“饭之甘，在百味之上；知味者，遇好饭不必用菜”。今年开始，中国·贝赛思国际/双语学校食堂采购的大米全面升级，来自新疆南疆沙漠边缘的高原有机优质粳米——羊脂籽米将成为学生主食的标配产品。

Rice is an essential part of students' daily meals, providing protein, fats, and carbohydrates. Currently, there are many varieties of rice available in the market, each with different nutritional values. In order to ensure that students have a more nutritious and healthier diet, the school has been meticulous in the procurement of ingredients. After extensive comparison and research, BASIS International & Bilingual Schools · China has decided to comprehensively upgrade the rice in all school cafeterias. We have chosen the "Highland Japonica Rice Premium Soft Fragrant Rice," also known as Yangzhizi Rice, developed through collaboration between Xinjiang Alar Golden Sand Reclamation Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. and Yunnan Shengnong Rice Research Institute. This non-genetically modified premium japonica rice is priced at 60 yuan per kilogram in the retail market.

米饭是学生一日三餐的重要部分，可提供蛋白质、脂肪和碳水化合物，目前市面上的米有很多种，营养价值也各不相同。为了学生吃得更营养、更健康，学校在采购食材上一直精益求精。经过广泛的比对和调研，中国·贝赛思国际/双语学校决定对学校食堂的大米进行全面升级。选定由新疆阿拉尔金色沙垦农业发展有限公司与云南声农水稻研究所合作开发的“高原粳稻优质软香米”，又名羊脂籽米，这是一种非转基因的优质粳米，市场零售价为60元/公斤。

Yangzhizi Rice is cultivated in a high-quality, environmentally friendly setting with stringent requirements. Its quality management system adheres to global standards, utilizing the European Union's Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) and China's organic standards for cultivation. Processing follows the United Kingdom's global food safety processing standards. This not only yields a delicious taste but also garners a positive reputation for health, nutrition, and safety.

It has been revealed that Yangzhizi Rice has undergone third-party independent testing from organizations such as SGS (Swiss General Notary), Panda Guide, and the International Rice Taste Evaluation Institution. According to the sampling inspection conducted by SGS in November 2023, Yangzhizi rice underwent testing for 520 items, all of which showed no trace of harmful substances; no toxic or harmful heavy metal residues were detected; residues of aflatoxin and vomitoxin were also not detectable. Over the past two years, Yangzhizi rice has received numerous international and domestic awards, including the National Top Ten High-Quality Rice Producing Areas Award at the 2022 China Finals of the Third International Rice Taste Evaluation Competition, the Gold Award Product at the 2023 China Finals of the International Rice Taste Evaluation Competition, and the Special Excellence Award at the International Rice Taste Evaluation Competition in 2022 and 2023.

根据SGS 2023年11月进行的抽样检验，羊脂籽米检测520项，全部为零检出；有毒有害重金属残留为零检出；黄曲霉素残留和呕吐毒素残留检测为零检出……近两年，羊脂籽米先后荣获多项国际、国内奖项，包括第三届国际米食味品鉴大会中国区总决赛2022年度全国十大大米优质产区奖、国际米食味品鉴大会中国区总决赛2023年金奖产品、国际米食味品鉴大会特别优秀奖（2022年及2023年）等。
