What is the SWIS application criteria?
SWIS only accepts applications from foreign passport holders or residents from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. At least one parent of the applicant must be a foreign passport / foreign permanent resident holder or a resident from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.
What is SWIS's curriculum?
The school’s curriculum is grounded in the International Baccalaureate’s Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) and strives to integrate a holistic world-view with traditional Chinese language and cultural studies.
What is the cut off age for each grade?
The cut-off date for entry into each Grade level is the 1st of September. This means the student applicant must reach the age limit of the corresponding grade level.
What is the SWIS admissions process?
Admissions process:

Complete and submit an online application form (required documents are uploaded through OpenApply)
Once the application has been successfully submitted, parents will receive an automatic reply email from the OpenApply system.
Vacancy within the grade level will be reviewed (parents will be notified via email when there is a seat available).
Student assessment organized.
Admissions decision sent.
What documents and files are required for the application?
The application will not be processed until all forms and documents listed below are submitted through OpenApply.
Completed online application form.
Scanned copy of parents’ and child passport (information page and valid Chinese VISA).
Scanned copy of the most up-to-date immunization records for your child.
Scanned copy of the most recent electronic passport-sized photo for your child.
Scanned copy of your child’s school reports for their previous school year.
For Grade 6 and above applicants, please provide their current school email address for their Mathematics Teacher, English Teacher, Homeroom Teacher or Principal.
Will my child need to take an admissions test?
Students applying to SWIS will be evaluated for their English-speaking, reading, and writing abilities. As SWIS wishes to maintain an environment where English is the language of academic instruction, preference is given to those students who are most functional or have the greatest potential to be functional at their Grade level in English. Also, an English Mathematics test is required for Grade 2 and above applicants.
Application Deadline:
SWIS strongly recommends early application due to limited space and small class sizes. Late applicants are advised to consult the Admissions Office before starting the application process.
Rolling Admissions: We accept students throughout the year (places are subject to vacancy).
How much is the tuition fee and meal fee?
Note: Tuition includes all texts and resource materials, software, library/database membership, labs, indoor heated pool, sports/fitness facility access, high speed/wireless internet access and in-school activities/events and annual class excursions.
IBDP registration and exams, school uniforms, buses, and meals are not included in the tuition. Additional fees may apply for EAL(English as an Additional Language), after school activities/ interscholastic travel and athletics activities.

What are the school hours?
Classes begin at 8:30 am and end at 3:30 pm. After school activities run from 3:40 pm – 4.30 pm.
Is SWIS a boarding school?
No student boarding is offered.
Does SWIS have extracurricular activities?
To expand students' creative experiences, and develop further academic skills, SWIS offers an After School Activity (ASA) Program & Weekend Class that aims to develop balanced, open-minded and risk-taking students who possess a strong sense of responsibility and respect towards themselves, others, and the environment. The activities are designed to complement the school program with extracurricular activities that provide students with an opportunity to learn skills beyond the classroom.
What holidays does SWIS have every year?
A minimum of 180 school days is guaranteed for an academic year. Our holidays include Chinese national holidays and certain western holidays, for details, please see our school calendar.
What is the language of instruction at SWIS?
Our language of instruction at SWIS is English. Language instruction involves the belief that planning, teaching, assessing and reflecting are interconnected processes.
What is SWIS's meal plan?
The meal plan for Early Years includes a morning snack, an afternoon snack, and lunch. The meal plan for other grade levels includes a morning snack and lunch.

Does SWIS have school buses?
Yes, we have 8 school bus lines in the 2019-2020 school year, which include: CBD line, Honey Lake Line, OCT line, Xinzhou Line, Shekou Line, Donghai Line, Houhai Line, and Longhua Line.
Do students have a mid-day rest every day?
Only Pre-K students have a one-hour midday rest, other grades have a lunch break and playtime.

招生标准
SWIS只招收外籍或港澳台学生。申请人的父母至少其中一方为外籍(持外国护照或永久居住证)或港澳台居民。
课程体系
SWIS采用国际文凭组织(IBO)的课程体系,开设已获得认证的小学项目(PYP)、中学项目(MYP)和大学预科项目(DP)。SWIS的课程培养学生全面的世界观,同时融合中国语言、传统和中国文化的学习。
年龄及申请年级
入学年龄截止日期为9月1日。例如,9月1日前满4周岁的学生方可报名就读幼儿四岁班。学校将严格根据学生的年龄安排学生就读相应的年级。

入学测试
入学测试包括英语听、说、阅读和写作能力测试。由于学校的教学语言为英语,学校将优先录取英语水平能够达到申请就读年级学习所相应要求的学生。另外,二年级至五年级入学测试科目还包括数学测试;六年级及以上还须参加中文测试。
申请截止日期
鉴于有限的学位和较小的班级规模,建议有意向者尽早申请。逾期申请的学生请先行咨询招生办老师关于学位的情况。我校实行全年滚动招生,具体招生人数视学位情况而定。
学费和餐费
注:学费包含学生使用教材教具、教学软件、图书馆资源、实验室、室内恒温游泳池、运动和健身设施、校内高速网络,以及参加校内文体活动等产生的费用。大学预科项目的申请和考试、校服、校车、就餐会产生额外的费用。英语作为其他语言课程(EAL)、特殊教育(SEN)、校外实践活动、课后活动、校际活动可能会产生额外的费用。

学校不提供住宿。

SWIS学生有充分的机会参加课堂以外的学习。学校向学生提供丰富的课后活动项目,包括各种兴趣班课程、学生会社团、各类乐团、辩论小组以及编程和机器人兴趣组等。课后活动项目旨在促进学生的均衡发展,培养他们包容的心态和更强的责任感。
假期
学校每一学年有不少于180天的上学日。假期包括中国公众假期和部分西方假期。详情请参考我校官网的校历。
教学语言
SWIS使用英文教学。学校备课计划、教学活动、考试测评和表现反馈均用英文进行。
膳食计划
幼儿四岁班和K年级:课间餐(上午)、午餐和点心(下午)。
其他年级:课间餐(上午)和午餐。
午餐就餐方式

2019-2020学年学校有8条校巴线路,包括中心线、东海线、侨香线、侨城线、新洲线、蛇口线、后海线和龙华线。
午休/课间
只有幼儿四岁班的学生中午有一小时的午休时间。
其他年级中午无午休,午餐后是自由活动时间。
