To Our GOS Community

今天文章要从对城市绿洲学校的自豪感说起。相隔很长一段时间，大家都很高兴地回到学校。我们超过90%的教职员都在深圳，并且每一个都非常开心地回到了自己的教室。我们的高年级在本周已经开始上课，在此我对他们的表现、乐观和乐意迎接新的“日常生活”感到欣慰。孩子们都非常棒，我们要感谢家长为学生能够迅速回到常规做出的充分准备。

I would like to begin today by saying how proud I am of the GOS community. It has been a long time coming but we were all very pleased to be back at school. We have over 90% of staff in Shenzhen and every single one is pleased to be back in their classrooms. Our seniors started this week and I would like to say a huge thank you to all of them for their behaviour, enthusiasm and willingness to embrace the new ’normal’. They have been great, and we would like to thank the parents for preparing them so well for the changes to the school routine that have been necessary.

4-8年级将于5月11日开学，1-3年级将于5月18日开学。经过两个多月的网络学习，全体教职员都很期待与学生见面。老师们一直在准备教室，确保复课后的社交距离。

With the announcement of Year 4-8 starting on the 11th May and the years 1-3 on the 18th May, all staff are looking forward to greeting their students after over two months of online learning. The teachers have been preparing their classrooms, ensuring social distancing can still occur.

事实上，社交距离是关键词。我们高年级的学生做得很好，特别是在早上，当他们在等待通过测温通道的时候。学校的后勤人员为此做了充分的准备，甚至在地上标记了距离定点。当学生和教职员到达时，他们必须通过测温通道。学生们在每节课前都要测体温，体温在36.8度以下才能进入教室。如果体温高于标准，校医将进行复测。测温之后，学生需使用消毒洗手液后方能进入教室。

In fact social distancing is the name of the game. Our senior students have done an excellent job especially in the morning when they are waiting to go through the temperature tunnel. GOS support staff have set up very good structures for this to occur even putting markers on the ground for children to stand on. So when children and staff arrive they must go through our tunnel and get their temperature taken. Students are also tested prior to each class and must have a temperature of 36.8 or below to be able to enter the classroom. If it is high students will be tested with a thermometer by the nurse. After the check students are asked to cleanse their hands with hand sanitizer as they enter the room.

在教室里，课桌是分开的，学生必须避免共同分享设备。

午餐也是专门有安排。学生分散在饭堂用饭，桌子上标有他们的名字。午餐使用环保可降解饭盒，同时保持温热。学校不允许送餐，所以学生在饭堂用餐或者自带餐食。

In the classroom, desks are separated and students must refrain from sharing equipment.

Lunch is also a little different. Students are spread out in the canteen with their own place named on tables. The containers are biodegradable and the lunches are served hot. We are not permitted to let parents deliver lunches so children must either eat the school lunch or bring their lunches from home.

一天结束后，学生们需要穿过温控通道离开校园。开学第一周较为顺利，我们对此感到非常高兴。当其他年级学生回来时，高年级学生将成为他们的优秀榜样。

At the end of the day, students are required to walk back through the tunnel and home. It has been such an easy opening, so we are all very pleased with the first week back. The seniors will be excellent role models for the young students when they return.

正是因为我们出色的后勤工作人员，这一切才得以实现。他们一直与当地社区、教育局、医院和其他权威机构通力合作，以确保学校为学生们做好了充分的准备。非常感谢所有参与此项工作的人。

All of this could not have been possible without our fabulous support staff. They have been working so hard with the local community, the education bureaus, hospitals and other authorities to ensure the schools was and is well prepared for your children. Thank you so much to all who have been involved in ensuring we are ready to go.
